The metal fabricators are among 12 businesses statewide to receive funding under the state government’s Automotive Supply Chain Transition Program.
The funding comes in the wake of a string closures including Ford’s Broadmeadows plant, which closed in October last year, and the impending closure of Toyato’s Altona plant later this year. Ceramet also received government funding in July last year under the same scheme. The company told The Courier last year it had cut its dependence on the automotive industry by more than half and tripled its supply to overseas markets.
Industry and Employment Minister Wade Noonan said the grants would help companies identify future markets as the car manufacturing industry “wound down” in Victoria.
