The 46th edition of the tournament is expected to attract more than 6000 players, coaches, team managers, referees and family members to the city.
Two hundred and sixty teams from across the state will compete across 20 courts at 10 venues throughout the three-day event.
Sixteen of those teams are from the Ballarat region.
It is a an increase on last year’s numbers, with only 224 teams competing after a record entry number of 271 teams in 2014.
Basketball Ballarat events manager Mark Valentine said while teams had tried other competing events last year, Ballarat’s event reputation and regional experience made the tournament a destination of choice.
The tournament runs from June 10 until June 12.
