Leading Senior Constable Simon Barker said the woman and man, both aged in their late teens, were travelling north of Creswick before the driver lost control of her Nissan dual-cab about 5pm on Monday.
But despite the massive drop they managed to walk away with only minor injuries, including a scraped elbow.
"It was due to wet weather and driving inexperience," Leading Senior Constable Barker said.
"They were very lucky."
The car was lifted out of the ditch with a big crane on Thursday afternoon.
Leading Senior Constable Barker said no charges would be laid over the incident.
