Captain Jack Chadwick got the side off to a flyer with a goal after three minutes before Toby Hoy doubled the lead in the 7th minute.
It took a 2-1 lead into half-time.
The highly-rated Kew were always going to respond and it gained control throughout the second half.
Two second-period goals handed the visitors the lead.
WestVic pressed hard to level the scores, but could not find an avenue to its third goal.
WestVic has now lost two of its past three matches and has fallen to fifth on the ladder. Its two losses have been against the top two sides and WestVic faces another challenge when it travels to Stead Park next week to play a Hockey Geelong outfit baring down on it in sixth position.
The reserves also had a tough day. It had plenty of opportunities early the match, but could not take full advantage. The final score saw a strong Kew side take a comfortable 3-0 victory.
The WestVic women had a bye.
