Wednesday night’s opponent for the ninth-placed championship Sovereigns will be the 8-2 North East Blaze.
Sacha McDonald is expected to return from her ankle injury while Rene Caris will be back after football commitments
Sovereigns fell short against ladder leader Melbourne University last week, going down by 46 goals, but championship assistant coach Kim Bailey said much of that was self-inflicted by some poor ball movement. She acknowledged a lot of its turnovers were caused by the quality of the opposition, but this week provided another chance to face a top two outfit.
“It’s a really tough road for us,” Bailey said.
“Champ needs to work out where it sits and this is an opportunity to do it.”
The division one team is a game-and-half outside the top four while the 19/unders will be looking for its second win.
