AFL Goldfields boss Rod Ward said Bacchus Marsh, Darley, Melton, Melton South and Sunbury had declared they want to remain in the BFNL during the consultation process of the region-wide senior competition review.
The desires of those clubs has always appeared crucial in what recommendations the review will make.
“It means there’s not a need for major structural change to the Ballarat Football Netball League, so that’s quite pleasing,” Ward said.
Ward and the committee assigned to the review was set to meet with the last of the region’s clubs on Friday before discussing its findings on Monday next week.
Ward said all clubs in the Ballarat, Central Highlands, Maryborough Castlemaine District and Riddell District competitions have been part of the consultation process, as have league committees and umpiring bodies.
“After Monday night we will start drafting the recommendations and initial report and that will be out in July,” he said.
“Clubs will be able to engage with their members, committees and leagues throughout July and give us any feedback by August. A final report will then be issued after the football season.”
Ward said it has been fantastic to have the opportunity to engage with clubs on a one-on-one basis to help put in a proactive plan to assist in their sustainability.
