The Kangaroos showed real resolved to come from 40 points down at quarter time.
This continues the Cobras' Eastern Oval hoodoo, where they have not beaten East Point in more than a decade.
More significantly for the Kangaroos though, their improvement puts them in the hunt for sixth and a possible finals berth.
Bryson McDougall led from the front in attack with five goals, while youngster Mitchell Tuddenham contributed three in a team performance spearheaded by Hasker Dawborn and the ever improving Mickitja Rotumah-Onus.
Scott Sherlock and Trent Angwin led the way for Bacchus Marsh.
East Point now has the rare distinction of having had two draws this season.
The Kangaroos shared the points with Ballarat in the opening round.
And while Darley escaped with a seven-point win over Ballarat, Devils coach Heath Scotland was far from impressed after the Swans stormed home with a seven-goal last quarter.
Scotland took players behind closed doors immediately after the match - abandoning the traditional club song as supporters were shut out from the changerooms.
Scotland said it had been players’ call not to sing the song.
Ballarat charged home fro 42 points down late in the last quarter with eight of the last 10 goals of the game.
It was only a period heading into the time-on in which Darley managed two majors that denied the Swans a major upset.
Ballarat booted the last four goals, but time ran out.
Swans ruckman Marcus Powling dominated to give Ballarat midfield control through the likes of Nick and Will Garner, and Shane Hutchinson.
Harley Inglis and Kyle Docherty each kicked three goals as Darley’s best.
Sunbury and Redan each consolidated their spots in the top six, but neither had it easy.
North Ballarat City pushed the Eastern Lions all the way, only losing touch in a 24-point loss in the last quarter at Clarke Oval.
Redan was kept honest by a hard-working Sebastopol in a 30-point win at Marty Busch Reserve.
