Ballarat YCW’s Louise Wood upstaged race favourite Courtney Scott to win one of the prestigious events on the Ballarat Regional Athletic Centre calendar.

Wood took out the open women’s division of the Chas Suffren Memorial cross country event in Burrumbeet on Saturday, running 11.32min for the 3km journey.
She beat the highly-fancied Scott, who finished second ahead of youngster Lily Gilbert.
Gilbert produced a sensational run to win the under-16 division in a time of 11.47min.
In the open men’s category, Ballarat Harriers runner Julian Spence continued his dominant run of form to win the 6.4km race.
Spence’s time of 21.59min was well clear of Jesse Fullerton and Steve Moneghetti.
Ballarat YCW and Wendouree won respective A-grade men’s and women’s teams awards.
