The side, which is competing in the top flight for the first time, was far too strong for Creswick on Sunday, drubbing the Cougars 13-0 in a one-sided affair.
While United currently sits seventh on the 10-side ladder, its three wins and three draws from 11 outings show its in no way out of its depth in division one.
Team manager Ivan Carter said while it was frustrating the side had not been able to take home the three points from a number of close encounters during the year, there was plenty of upside to the young charges who he believed could still sneak a spot in the top four.
“We’ve been right up there and really competitive every game but there’s been times when we’ve not been able to finish off a couple of efforts and it’s that finishing touch because you get punished if you don’t take your chances at this level,” Mr Carter said.
“It’s been a bit of a learning curve for four or five guys coming up from juniors, but finals is still our aim.”
United will be out to continue its good form this weekend when it comes up against a struggling Bacchus Marsh Scorpions outfit on the road.
