The Christmas in Creswick group is hoping to raise more than $10,000 in order to cover the town in Christmas decorations, including a tree in front of the RSL and lights across the band stand.
A raffle raising money for the installation will be drawn by Hepburn Shire councillor Greg May at the Creswick Newsagent on Thursday morning.
Group committee member Jan Worthington said the residents had been inspired by the displays in Clunes and hoped to put their own touch on the decorations, focusing on the theme of forestry.
“Last year and the years before we've had nothing in Creswick as far as Christmas goes, so we thought we would get together and decorate the town,” Ms Worthington said of the effort.
