So far this month Ballarat has had just 10.2 millimetres of rain, compared to a June average of 63mm.
Ballarat’s current June record stands at 12.8mm in 2006. June 26 had the highest daily rainfall at just 3mm.
Senior climatologist Blair Trewin said Ballarat’s overall rainfall average was still on track thanks to a wet April which had a total rainfall of 101mm.
“With only light showers forecast between now and the end of the month, there's a possibility that it may yet set a new record for Ballarat's driest June on record. However, rainfall for the year to date is still tracking close to average, with a very wet April offsetting the dry June.”
June has been dry statewide, with most areas north of the Divide more than 80 per cent below average.
