Police have reminded the public to lock garages after thieves targeted a house while the owners slept metres away in a new residential development in Lucas.

Senior Sergeant Neale Robinson said crooks broke in sometime between midnight and 11.30am on Monday, sifting through a car and stealing several items.
Officers have now handed the case over to Crime Investigation Unit detectives, who have launched an investigation into the incident along Daly Drive.
The street is located amid new residential blocks near Cuthberts Road in the west of Lucas, which has seen high levels of development over recent years.
It comes after Crime Statistics Agency numbers released this month revealed there had been 232 aggravated burglaries in the year to the end of March in Ballarat, up 90 cases on the year before.
