According to the results of the 2016 census, she ticks all the boxes as being the average resident of Ballarat.
Census figures released yesterday reveal the average Ballarat resident is an unmarried 38-year-old woman who was born in Australia, is not religious, and lives with a partner and children.
”I had a bit of a laugh when I saw it and realised it was me,” the Smythes Creek resident said.
Ms Neil and her partner Nigel Parker have been together for 19 years and have two children Jasmine, 7, and Sophie, 4.
“We’re as good as married and happy with the status quo,” she said.
“We’ve seen lots of people we know, and quite a few our age, get married and then get divorced. Why fix something that’s not broken?”
Before having children Ms Neal was a primary school teacher, and now keeps busy juggling family life, doing the books for the couple’s IT business, and helping out at her daughter’s school.
