Harness Racing Victoria stewards have confirmed that the three-year-old trialled to their satisfaction at Geelong on Tuesday.
Stewards stood down the Michael Stanley-trained Petacular after they found she had bled from one nostril in winning a semi-final at Melton on Friday.
Stewards informed the Burrumbeet-based Stanley that to be eligible to start she needed to trial to their satisfaction. She did that at Geelong.
Stewards reported that examinations before and after the trial by HRV veterinary consultant Dr Richard Cust failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Stanley told The Courier that he always been confident Petacular would be cleared to contest the group 1 final.
He said apart from the extra travel, the trial had worked in well with what would be her normal preparation.
“She’s pulled up really well.”
The 3yo fillies’ final is being billed as a match-race between Petacular and the Emma Stewart-trained Miss Graceland, which won the other semi-final.
Miss Graceland has drawn gate two and Petacular will come out of five.
Stewart has 18 starters in six VSS finals, including six in the 2yo colts and geldings division.
SOMETIMES you just have to be patient.
Ballarat gallops trainer Daryl Brown reinforced this approach when Pufnstuf ($4.20) took out a maiden at Geelong on Friday.
The breakthrough ended a run of three second placings for Pufnstuf and also gave Brown his first win since landing a double at Kyneton in May last year.
A 3yo by Hidden Dragon, Pufnstuf was having only his seventh race start with seconds at Geelong, Kilmore and Ballarat. Pufnstuf is also one of only a handful of different horses Brown has had to the races over the past few seasons.
Brown was part of successful day for Ballarat trainers, with Simon Morrish and Dan O’Sullivan also getting among the winners.
Morrish followed up with another win again on the Geelong synthetic on Tuesday.
