Three gold for Ballarat schools at state event

THREE gold medals were claimed by pupils from the Ballarat area at the School Sports Victoria Primary Track and Field day yesterday at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park.

Ella Squire, from Ballarat Clarendon College, jumped 9.65 metres in triple jump to take one of the gold medals in an 11-year-old event.

Sam Williams from Alfredton Primary School also walked away with a gold, completing the boy’s 12-13 years 1500 metre run in 4:46.26.

Smeaton Primary School’s Dyson Parish threw a two kilogram shot put 10.45 metres in the boy’s 9-10 years category, more than half a metre further than the second place getter.

Sam Williams (Alfredton Primary School): 1500 metres, boys 12-13, 4:47.26.

Eoghan Somers (Buninyong Primary School): High Jump, boys 9-10, 1.35 metres;

Nick Fidler (Pleasant Street Primary School): 1500 metres, boys 11-year-olds, 4:56.40;

Indya Forde (St Bridigs Primary School Ballan): 100 metres, girls 9-10, 14.63.

BRONZE

Alana Van Dyken (Ballarat North Primary School): High Jump, girls 11-year olds, 1.35 metres.
