Coach Danny Gnjidic had hoped his side could break a run of losses against the better teams in the National Premier Leagues Victoria 2 competition, but it was not to be as Moreland City claimed a 2-1 triumph at Morshead Park.

The visitors scored first in the 33rd minute and led 1-0 at half time before Ballarat leveled things up when Josh De Voogel found the net in the 51st minute.

But the joy was short-lived for the hosts as Moreland City forward Trent Rixon headed home a goal that proved to be the winner in the 58th minute.

Ballarat City has a clash against Sunshine George Cross next Saturday.
