The city dropped to minus 2 degrees over the weekend, with the high wind chill easing on Sunday evening.
Saturday saw the lowest temperatures since July 1 – when the mercury dropped to minus 4 degrees – with a low of minus 2 degrees in the early morning.
Neither Saturday nor Sunday broke into double digits, with a 9 degree high on Saturday and 8 degree high on Sunday.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Rod Dickson said cloud cover and wind and shower activity associated with passing fronts would keep overnight temperatures no lower than 3 degrees this week.
A couple of showers are forecast for Monday with a rainfall total between 1 and 4mm and temperatures between 3 and 11 degrees.
Total rainfall for Tuesday is forecast at 1 to 5mm with up to 2mm expected to fall on Wednesday.
