The Jakarta Post reported that Gregory Lee Butler, 46, stood on a ledge and threatened suicide at the Ngurah Rai International Airport on Tuesday about 6.30pm local time.
He was then apprehended by Indonesian police and taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
An Air Asia flight from Bali to Kuala Lumpur was cancelled after the incident.
Mr Butler briefly spoke to media before being taken away:
“I didn’t want to jump, I was standing on the edge ... would you jump? I wanted to bring attention to certain situation regarding government officials, that’s why I thought I could do it."
