Pupils from all year levels spent time with children’s author Claire Saxby learning the process behind writing a book.
And it turns out it’s far more involved than simply having an idea and putting words on a page.
“Claire often says it’s about the words you leave out, and she will tell them that she does a lot of editing,” said principal Michelle Wilson.
Ms Wilson decided to get Ms Saxby in to work with the children to help show them the purpose of writing, and that having insights in to the book-making process from someone who had achieved excellence in their field was like having an Olympian come to the school to talk about their sport.
