The $4,500 grant from Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) will provide additional space for members of the community. The Men’s Shed is among 100 projects around the country to receive a cut of close to half a million dollars in funding. Projects include education, health and social welfare, environment and arts and cultural initiatives.
FRRR’s national programs manager Jeanice Henderson said the small grant’s program was the foundation’s most popular scheme.
“The ability of the small grants program to cater for such a wide range of activities is a big factor in its success,” she said.
Furthermore, the program is able to reach groups and areas of the country that have reduced opportunities for fundraising due to small population size and geographic isolation, and that’s why we receive hundreds of applications each year.
“In Round 31, Small Grants for Rural Communities continues to fund many improvements to vital community infrastructure and the purchasing of equipment for community spaces, while also supporting an increasing number of projects that enhance community well-being.”
