This is the first of four team training days, held over three months, to help bring together athletes aged 35-plus under Ballarat coaches Anthony Ebery, Mel Robinson and Carlton AFLW strength and conditioning coach Sonia De Rose.
The high-intensity cross-training fitness trend has a large CrossFit community in Ballarat with CrossFitters from five to all-age adults building up different techniques and movements.
Victorian Masters CrossFit season kicks off with a state throwdown in Melbourne at the start of each year.
The Australian masters league invites CrossFitters to compete against others of the same age and ability in fiercly contested ‘state of origin’ competition.
Ms Robinson (PerFit CrossFit) said the competition, but importantly the CrossFit community, was a chance for older athletes, wanting to get or stay active, to try something new.
The state masters team will be in the gym at PerFit Health and Wellbeing, then a swim session at Shayne Reese Swimming before refuelling for lunch.
The team also has training days scheduled in Mildura, central Melbourne and Frankston.
