Currently sitting on top of the table, a win would see them gain a seven-point lead against third-placed Bell Park who are chasing the promotion positions.
While being the hunted means the opposition are always attempting to bring their best performance to the table, Vikings coach Corey Smith says it is not something they are worrying about.
“Being top of the table brings with it certain pressure, but it’s pressure we welcome. We’d much rather be in the position we are in as opposed to being on the bottom of the table,” he said.
The importance of the showdown with Bell Park certainly has not been lost on Smith this week.
“We’ve got a huge chance to put a gap between us and the other teams chasing us, but at the same token, you can’t win the league in one game so we certainly won't be getting carried away,” Smith said.
Reflecting on the last time they played Bell Park, Smith said that memorable victory acted as a “catalyst for our season in a lot of ways”.
In that match, the Vikings went down 2-0 but came back to win 4-2 in a major confidence and resilience booster. Kick-off is at 3.pm at Bell Park Sports Club, Saturday.
