“Give everything a shot,” Rune said. “Take every opportunity as it comes up.”
The pair, both of the Arch Venturer Unit, were presented with the Queen’s Scout Award in a special ceremony in Alfredton on Saturday afternoon. The award recognises extra achievement and challenge in scouting achievement and activities.
Rune, who has a fear of water, went on a four-day canoe on the Edwards River to meet his Queen’s Scout outdoor standard.
Brandon, who has a fear of flying, took two planes to get to his sailing location in New Zealand.
It has taken the 17-year-old duo almost three years to reach the Queen’s honour with a minimum 270 hours’ work toward badges. This has included extra community service within the scouts movement and in helping other community groups, like Rotary and the Country Fire Authority.
