The Strikers took a 2-0 lead into half-time thanks to Sophie Emota’s first goal of the season and a long-range goal from 13-year-old Tamsyn Smith. However, they could not contain the Royals in the second half as they scored two goals at the 62 and 89 minute-mark to deny Ballarat a breakthrough victory. After some heavy losses in the opening nine rounds, the Strikers last three weeks have been far more competitive. Two draws and a 2-1 loss provides hope that the one-sided encounters will subside.
