Ballarat Mechanics’ Institute has shifted the free event from Humffray Room to The Minerva Space, which has almost double the capacity.
Michael Westlake Trio, Josh Woods, Paige Duggan Quartet and Adam Simmons’ Origami will headline the Ballarat Winter Festival event.
“Last time it was theatre-style seating this time it's on tables,” venue manager David Dahlenberg said.
“We need a bigger spaced based on the fact we were turning people away last year so we think this is a good move forward plus we have a whole lot more acts this year.”
Mr Dahlenberg said attendees could expect a “diversity of jazz” including a tribute to Ornette Coleman by Origami. Saxophonist Pail Simmons will also join his son, Adam, onstage.
2017 Ballarat LoungeRoom Jazz is at the Ballarat Mechanics’ Institute Minerva Jazz Supper Club on Saturday, July 29 from 7-10pm. Doors open at 6pm for early drinks and seating. Drinks at Humffray Room Cash bar.
