This is Frangos’ debut role in a major musical after studying at the Victorian College of Arts.
Of acting, Mr Frangos said that every character is very different but it’s important to find at least one thing to identify with in each role.
This inspires his unusual approach to playing Judas.
“I put myself in his shoes. With Judas, I imagine his undying respect and love for Jesus. To save his life he turned Jesus into the authorities. Then he realises they’ll just kill Jesus and he can’t live with it.” Mr Frangos said.
“Then he might have thought did god make me do this or was I just forced? I can completely identify. No one in life is just a villian.”
Although Mr Frangos said he always enjoyed performing as a kid, he went away from it for a while.
“With acting I can do so many things that I wouldn’t necessarily do in real life. It makes you step outside real life and delve into something else.” Mr Frangos said.
Rob Mills will star alongside Mr Frangos as Jesus and Alinta Chidzey as Mary.
The production will be held at the Melbourne Arts Centre from July 29 until August 13.
