The Towners stretched their winning streak to six matches with an important 43-point victory over Learmonth on Saturday, closing the gap on the eighth-placed Lakies in the process.
Dunnstown is now 10th and just a game behind Learmonth.
The Towners lost their first eight matches of the 2017 campaign, but have slowly climbed up the table and are within striking distance of the playoffs.
They take on lowly Newlyn next weekend before what shapes as a huge encounter against Daylesford in round 17.
The Bulldogs are percentage behind Learmonth in ninth spot on the ladder after Saturday’s loss to Buninyong.
A goal by Patrick Rowe put Daylesford in front mid-way through the second quarter, but it proved the team’s last major of the match as the home side booted clear to win by 63 points.
Fraser Russell had a great game in attack for the winners with six goals, while defenders Jack Robertson and Nick Shell performed well in difficult conditions.
Buninyong remains percentage clear in fourth spot ahead of Gordon, which collected a 42-point success against Bungaree.
This has seen the Demons slide to seventh as Waubra jumped to sixth on the back of its easy win against Carngham-Linton.
Other victors in round 15 were Ballan, Hepburn, Creswick and Springbank.
