Fevola’s game came to a premature end early in the third quarter after getting two yellow cards in quick succession.
Melton South confirmed that the BFL’s leading goalkicker received the first yellow card and 15-minute sending off in relation to a verbal indiscretion.
The second yellow, which meant an automatic red card, was a result of Fevola disputing the initial sending off as he left the field.
While Fevola was unable to take any further part in the game as a player, Melton South was able to replace him.
There was initial confusion as to whether he could be replaced though, with the issue not resolved until after each club put in calls to the BFL to clarify the situation.
The Panthers lost by 51 points – 14.19 (103) to 7.10 (52) – to remain seventh and out of the top six on percentage.
Melton South faces North Ballarat City at Mars Stadium next Sunday.
