A team of more than 40 people, including police maritime divers and forensics officers, NSW Police, ACT Rural Fire Service and SES volunteers began the search in the vicinity of White Rocks, Karabar on Saturday.

ACT Policing's Detective Sergeant David Turner, who leads the homicide unit, would not specify what they were searching for or whether the murder weapon had been found.

However, he said police had obtained the information that led them to search in Karabar recently and believed it to be credible.

"The investigation is ongoing and we have several avenues of enquiry still to follow up," Detective Sergeant Turner said.

"If the search is successful today it will be a significant step forward in this investigation."

No one has yet been formally charged with the murder of Eden Waugh.

Karabar resident Taniela Manu Pikula, 29, faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Saturday morning charged with accessory after the fact of Mr Waugh's alleged murder.

It is alleged Pikula assisted two men being investigated for Mr Waugh's murder, Jason Pikula-Carroll, 21, and Tavake Lee Pikula, 31, between November 3 and November 14. The men have not yet been charged.

Bail was not applied for and Pikula was remanded in custody until next month.

Detective Sergeant Turner would not comment on any matters in front of the court but urged anyone with information regarding Mr Waugh's murder to come forward.

"We believe that people know who killed Eden Waugh," he said.

"I urge anyone in that position to contact Crime Stoppers.

"Obviously the family seeks closure and justice. The investigation is ongoing and we are putting every effort into solving this murder."

Rewards of up to $1000 may be applicable to anyone that provides information that assists police in solving the murder.
