Lubeek, 52, died last Saturday after a short battle with illness, leaving behind sons Zack and Cody, daughter Stacey and wife Julie.
Zack said his father, who was affectionately known as “Boo”, was a person that many looked up to.
“He wouldn’t stop until we were happy. He just loved helping everyone in anything,” Zack said.
“Dad touched so many people. He never had an enemy.”
Lubeek was a member of Creswick’s 1987 premiership side, the club’s last senior team to win a Central Highlands Football League flag. In that year, he won the league goal-kicking award with 105 majors (118 including finals) and was runner-up in the league best and fairest count.
“Every time he went to the footy, he was always talking about the 1987 premiership they won. He would always refer back to that. He just loved that year he played,” Zack said.
Lubeek was full forward in Creswick’s best team from 1950 to 2000 and holds the club record for number of goals in a game, kicking 16.14 against Waubra in 1986.
He worked for close to 30 years as a fitter and turner at Mars Chocolate and was an avid fan of drag racing.
Lubeek’s funeral will be at the Ballarat Minerdome next Friday from 1.30pm.
