Sebastopol’s reserves host Daylesford on Sunday in what will be a special occasion as Maggi joins Rod Oppenhuis as the only players to have reached the 400-game milestone for the Vikings.
Maggi, who captains the ladder leading reserves, said it will be a proud moment.
“It’s huge, I can’t even fathom it,” Maggi said.
Maggi forecast this season would be his last, but he did not rule-out the chance of a game in the future if low numbers required it. Maggi said the highlight was the premierships, particularly going through the 2006 season undefeated. While coaching has also brought him great pleasure, currently coaching the under-13 side
“I really enjoying coaching the kids, it’s a good way to make sure the club stays strong. We’ve put a lot of work in to make sure the club’s successful and we want make sure it stays that way.
“Hopefully we can win the league...that’d be a good way to finish off.”
