Friends of the wife of Grasshoppers senior coach Jarrod Thompson, Chris and Aaron Gillin have the serious muscle wasting condition and have started a group to raise awareness about the disease.
“We all have a great love for sport – that's why we play,” Thompson said.
“The boys that suffer from this disease have that some love and passion that we all have for sport, but they unfortunately don't have the opportunity to play the game.”
The Grasshoppers will play against Clunes this Saturday.
