Motorists heading to work faced heavy traffic at the site of three separate crashes.
In one incident, a two-door sedan was t-boned by a four-wheel-drive that failed to give way at the intersection of Ripon Street South and Rubicon Street at Redan.
Police are looking for the driver of the four-wheel-drive, who fled on foot.
Police said a black, four-door sedan failed to give way at the corner of Sturt and Ascot streets, where it hit a Toyota four-wheel-drive travelling west.
A 51-year-old man and 49-year-old woman were taken to hospital, but there were no serious injuries.
The crash was the second at the intersection in three days.
A car also flipped there on Saturday night during another two-vehicle incident, which saw one man taken to hospital for observation.
Emergencies services also attended a crash on the corner of Victoria Street and Queen Street on Saturday, after a car lost control while turning and flipped.
In the final crash on Monday morning, paramedics treated a woman following a minor incident on the corner of Gladstone and Magpie streets at Golden Point.
There have been four car crashes on Sturt Street since July 19, including two, unrelated three-car collisions on August 10.
Ballarat Highway Patrol Sergeant Ben Young said drivers had to pay more attention while behind the wheel.
“A substantial amount of these collisions have occurred in the Ballarat CBD area and distraction appears to play a leading cause in the majority,” he said.
“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility, we encourage all motorists to pay attention to make sure they are fit to drive, so that they drive to the best of their ability and pay attention to their surroundings.”
Police are still investigating the Redan crash and searching for the male driver who fled from the scene on foot.
The driver of the two-door sedan that was t-boned told The Courier there had been multiple cars speeding through the intersection where he was hit. “There were two of them, both following each other at the same speed,” he said.
“I missed a red one, I thought, ‘lucky I didn’t hit that’, then I got hit (by the second car).”
The man was driving west on Rubicon Street, when he said the two cars did not stop at the give way signs at the intersection.
Police said anyone who saw the crash or had information about the fleeing driver should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Sergeant Young said there were no concerns about traffic conditions on Sturt Street.
“There has been numerous collisions on Sturt Street – the main contributing factor to that is where drivers have failed to give way,” he said.
