Couch has been forced to take on the role in the absence of playing coach Michael Searl, who will miss the clash while overseas.
Searl flew out of Australia on Sunday bound for England, where he has family commitments.
The 32-year-old told The Courier he would be back in time for a semi-final, should the Tigers lose against the Burras.
Couch was a joint coach with Searl last year and has remained at the club in a playing capacity in 2017.
Searl has recently announced he will stand down from the helm at the end of the current campaign.
Springbank finished the home and away rounds in third spot on the Central Highlands Football League ladder and will take on a Hepburn side that beat it earlier in the year.
Sunday’s clash will be played at Learmonth.
