Pupils performed The Lion King in front of a packed theatre at the Wendouree Centre for the Performing Arts.
Canadian Lead Primary School principal Darlene Cameron said the production involved the school’s 187 pupils and past pupils.
She said parent Rachel Burness produced the sets and the puppets with the pupils’ help starting in term two.
In a first for the school, most of the production’s sets were projected digitally on the stage.
Ms Cameron said there had been excitement and energy across the school leading up to the production.
“It’s been magical,” Ms Cameron said.
“It would have not been possible without our music and arts teacher Sally Gregory.”
Ms Cameron said the production allowed pupils to learn about performing arts.
“It gives those students who want to pursue their creative talents an avenue,” she said.
The colourful and energetic production brought the African savanna to life, Ms Cameron said.
The Lion King was the school’s fourth production, following Peter Pan, Mulan and Alice in Wonderland. It holds a production every two years.
