WestVic Hockey’s men’s finals hopes were dealt a blow following a 7-2 Hockey Victoria men’s league one loss to KBH Brumbies.

The game slipped away from WestVic at a rapid rate in the first half as the Brumbies slammed on five goals to none. The second half was an improvement for WestVic as both teams scored two goals, but the damage was already done.
The ramifications to WestVic’s season are huge. Given PEGS won, WestVic now slips out of the top four with one round remaining.
PEGS has two games up its sleeve and a three-point advantage over WestVic. PEGS takes on the top two sides in its final two matches while WestVic has a winnable game against sixth-placed Hockey Geelong.
The likely outcome will see WestVic and PEGS locked on 10 wins each and the final spot in the four will come down to score differential.
Currently, WestVic has five goals to make up if it is to catch PEGS. But Saturday’s disappointing result did its hopes of finals no favours.
While in the women’s competition, WestVic had a bye.
