Spring will bloom on stage as students from Ballarat Grammar take a trip through the world of musicals in their production Springtime on Broadway.

The production, held on the first two days of spring, showcases a medley of musical numbers from classic and contemporary Broadway shows.

Ballarat Grammar drama head and director Elena Sabellico said this year’s production would give more students the chance to take on lead roles.

“We chose this format as we felt it would give a larger number of students the opportunity to have a greater part, because the one problem with a standard musical is you’ve got leads and a chorus right through but in this format each number features different students,” she said.

Between musical numbers there will be monologues from musicals, dance numbers and orchestra numbers giving all performing arts students their time in the spotlight.

Springtime on Broadway will be at Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts on September 1 and 2.
