He has chosen not to extend his contract after two years as head coach.
His decision also brings to an end a five-year association with Basketball Ballarat, which began in 2013 as Miners head coach.
Flint has continued to live in Bendigo throughout the tenure.
Flint said it had been a hard decision five years ago to take on the Miners’ role and coach against Bendigo.
“Ballarat is a fantastic club, led by great people and it has been a pleasure to be associated with them.
“If opportunities in the future arise and my work and family life align, I would love to continue my involvement with Basketball Ballarat in some capacity,” he said.
Basketball Ballarat chief executive officer Peter Eddy said in addition to his regular travel commitments to coach from Bendigo, Flint had been working in Stawell over the past two years to add significantly to his travel burden.
“David’s character, his sense of duty to our program, his eagerness to develop others as coaches and his commitment to the Rush and Miners programs have all been first class.”
A Bendigo Braves playing and coaching legend, Flint first joined Basketball Ballarat in 2013 after Guy Molloy was released from his contract with the Miners to pursue a full-time career offer in Melbourne.
Flint led the Miners back into the SEABL finals for the first time since 2006 before moving to an assistant role under Eric Hayes in 2015.
Rush just missed finals in each of his two years with the women’s team.
Rush overcome a slow start this year to storm home for an 11-win/11-loss record.
Rush chairman Kym Cassells said Flint, who succeeded Peter Cunningham, had laid a strong foundation for an incoming coach to build on.
Cassells said applications for the coaching role would close on Friday, September 8.
“We are looking for an experienced coach to fit in seamlessly and continue to drive our program and culture in the right direction”.
Flint’s departure means there the Basketball Ballarat elite program will a new look head coach panel.
Eric Hayes announced earlier this week that would not be continuing as Miners coach.
He made the decision after a SEABL conference grand final loss in overtime to Dandenong at the Minerdome on Saturday night.
The new coaches will lead Rush and Miners into a new era, which will see the development of a new six-court multi-purpose facility in Wendouree, for which $24 million in funding has been secured.
THE all-SEABL grand finals will be played at Kilsyth on Saturday night.
Bendigo Lady Braves (14 wins-8 losses) take on Geelong Supercats (18-4) for the women’s conference, while Dandenong Rangers (16-8) meet Mt Gambier Pioneers (21-3) in the men’s play-off.
