The 26-year-old will travel to Oaxaca in Mexico on Tuesday to take up a month-long artist residency where he will collaborate with local indigenous artists.
At the end of the month Mr Muir will take part in an art exhibition at the Australian embassy in Mexico City.
“The Oaxacan style of art is very similar to what I’m already producing,” Mr Muir said. “They celebrate death a lot and use bright vibrant colours and I’ve heard their street art is really amazing.”
The artist residency follows on from a similar exchange in 2016 where Mexican artists came to Victoria through RMIT University.
