Once there they will pit their self-designed and built human-powered and hybrid race vehicles against teams in the 24-hour endurance race of the Fraser Coast Technology Challenge.
The road trip sees the team of eight boys and seven girls from Ballarat High, Ballarat Grammar and Phoenix, Mount Clear and Damascus colleges travel thousands of kilometres north with their cars.
The team already has back-to-back victories in the RACV Energy Breakthrough in Maryborough, Victoria, and five design and construction awards in the past six years under their belt.
Unlike many local school teams compete at the RACV Energy Breakthrough in Maryborough each November, the Rode RAGE team take part in 10 or 11 competitions each year.
But it’s not all about competition, with the team planning some sightseeing on the way there and back.
