The Grand Final Friday Free Footy Festival is a regional offering for the public holiday at Mars Stadium in a state government bid to boost tourism and business.
AFL Goldfields, which is hosting the event, is set to confirm a further four AFL stars for the carnival fun – depending on how finals unfold.
Children’s entertainers The Mik Maks will be on show while the first 1000 children through the gate will also receive a free football.
There will be an Auskick Super Clinic, face painting, giant inflatables and AFL 9s.
Wendouree MP and passionate Richmond supporter Sharon Knight said the festival was a great chance to spend time with family and friends on the long weekend.
“The historic AFL match in Ballarat was an outstanding success and I urge local footy fans to once again make a beeline for Mars Stadium on Grand Final Friday Free Footy Festival,” Ms Knight said.
The festival will open from 10am to 4pm.
AFL Victoria and the state government have partnered for simultaneous festivals in Ballarat and Shepparton.
This follows inaugural AFL grand final eve parties in Bendigo and Warrnambool last year.
