More than 126mm of rain fell in less than a week at this time last year, with 54mm falling on Wednesday, September 14.
The rain that fell that day was simply unable to drain given the downpours in previous days.
To put that in context, Ballarat’s average September rainfall is just 72mm – almost half of what fell in that week.
Skipton arguably bore the brunt of flooding, with much of the town going under as Mt Emu Creek overflowed.
Previously flood-riddled towns such as Clunes and Creswick certainly had some nervous moments, but eventually managed to escape unharmed.

Many roads were blocked off, although no houses were damaged.
