NBN Co activated a new fixed wireless broadband site in Trentham in August. Trentham was one of 18 regional sites across the country to receive fixed wireless broadband under the NBN program.
Regional communications MP Fiona Nash said the new technology would help spur local businesses. “NBN Co recently announced the speed available on fixed wireless will double in many areas next year, offering downloads of up to 100 Mbps and uploads of up to 40 Mbps in 2018,” she said.
Fixed wireless delivers fast broadband through 1700 fixed wireless towers around the nation. Victorian towns Deans Marsh, Arthurs Creek and Flowerdale North amoung others were also included in the August roll out.
