School achievement, involvement in sport, extracurricular activities, philanthropy and consideration for others are qualities to be celebrated.

Some of Ballarat’s most inspiring students have been recognised in the Order of Australia Association’s Ballarat Secondary Schools Citizenship Awards.

Each high school nominated a student who lives the values of the Order of Australia awards, with their achievements celebrated at a civic reception.

“We are here to recognise and reward this … extraordinary group of young people who have given a great deal of time and energy to their school and community,” said deputy mayor Mark Harris.

Geoff Crick from the Order of Australia Association said those who received the award could become the leaders of the future.
