The first team will take on the Melton Rugby Union Football Club at the College’s main oval on Sunday at 12.30pm, in a match that will act as a curtain raiser to a clash between Vic Country and Vic Metro.
Captain Inoke Siola'a said the game had been unexpected and the team had only managed one training session so far, but the players were excited to be back together.
The previous time St Patrick’s and Melton played against each other was in the preseason.
“We won by three points with a winning kick, it was a good game,” Siola’a said.
“But the boys are pretty big on their team, they’re pretty strong.”
He hoped the momentum from St Patrick’s four victories to end the season would carry through to Sunday.
Win or lose, the squad members were keen to stick around for a tough battle between the two Vic sides.
