AFL Vic chief executive officer Steven Reaper said while Ballarat might not have its own team in the competition next year, there was scope to schedule some VFL games for the venue.
He singled out Footscray as possibly having home games in Ballarat, as an extension of the Western Bulldogs’ AFL partnership with the City of Ballarat.
Reaper said there was also scope to play more TAC Cup under-18 football games at Mars Stadium after the success of double and triple-headers at the ground this year.
The AFL-standard ground was the venue for two elimination TAC Cup finals at the weekend.
He said burgeoning success of AFLW could look at the facility for games as could VFLW as it moved forward.
Western Bulldogs are scheduled to play two AFL home and away games in Ballarat next year.
