Two Ballarat police officers have pleaded not guilty to assaulting a woman in a police cell and have been committed to stand trial.

After a three day committal hearing at the Ballarat Magistrates Court, magistrate Frank Jones on Thursday committed the pair to stand trial in the County Court.
Leading Senior Constable Nicole Munro, 47, and Senior Constable Steven Repac, 27, are accused of assaulting Yvonne Berry on January 15, 2015, after she was arrested for being drunk in a public place and placed in a Ballarat police cell.
Ms Berry, a former police officer, told the court on Wednesday she was handcuffed, kicked, dragged and forcefully thrown to the ground.
"I was in a very bad way. I was very fearful of my life," Ms Berry said.
Sergeant Renee Hulls, who was in charge on the night, told the court the situation spiralled out of control after Ms Berry took a lanyard with a security pass from around her neck.
She said Ms Berry charged at her to try and escape the cell, which she did, and the situation deteriorated.
Munro pleaded not guilty to one count of assault by kicking the victim.
Repac pleaded not guilty to two assault charges, including one count of assault by standing on the victim's left ankle and landing heavily on the right ankle.
He pleaded not guilty to one count of assault by kicking the victim.
A direction's hearing will be held in the Count Court at Ballarat on October 12.
