An elderly man has died on a V/Line service from Melbourne to Ballarat.
Trains on the line were stopped while emergency services responded.
Buses have been running in place of trains.
EARLIER
Commuter Michael Pollock said travellers were evacuated from a Ballarat-bound train after an elderly man fell ill.
“V/Line asked us to evacuate the train, we saw them conducting medical treatment on an elderly man as we left,” he said.
“A V/Line conductor said they contacted a local bus company for lifts, they said it would take awhile.”
Train services were suspended and replaced with buses due to the incident.

An ill customer has caused major delays on the Ballarat train line at Bacchus Marsh.
Police and Ambulance Victoria have responded to the incident.
Services have been replaced with buses after trains were stopped.
One commuter told The Courier his 6.07pm train from Ballarat to Southern Cross has been stopped at Bacchus Marsh for more than an hour.
Passengers remain stuck on the train, which was scheduled to arrive in Melbourne at 7.27pm.
