Zak Butters has only played five senior games with Darley.
That is enough though for the teenager to be now in the record books as a BFL premiership player.
Still with a year to go with Western Jets in the TAC Cup under-18 competition, the newly turned 17-year-old managed two senior appearances last year.
He was limited to one in the home and away series this season, but when the chance came in the finals he pounced.
Butters was one of Darley’s best in the second semi-final – locking him in for the grand final.
He said coach Heath Scotland had been full of encouragement, urging him to simply to get out there and back himself.
The grand final was just his fourth final, with one at under-age level and Darley’s elimination final last year being his only others before this season.
Butters now goes to an AFL-AIS training camp this week.
