On October 8, a town-wide Waste Not Want Not day will be a celebration foraging, scrounging, repairing, reinventing, recreating, reusing, repurposing and recycling.
They’re even repurposing an old wartime saying as their slogan. “It’s not about recycling, it’s about creative reuse and reinvention,” said organiser Kate Serrurier.
Seventeen local businesses, churches, service clubs and community groups will be part of the day.
“We are on about using what you have, giving away what you don’t need, sharing ideas and skills and connecting with your community through that,” she said.
A pop-up op shop, car boot sale, a church service to bless agricultural implements and pets, art and history exhibitions, speakers lounge, market stalls, cider and cheese tasting, repurposed buildings open for tours, and food stalls will all be part of the town-wide event.
